(un)Spring Cleaning: 5 Tips for Organizing Your Bathroom

Chelsea Tenant Organizing Her Bathroom Drawers Keeping a bathroom organized is not at all an easy task, especially for Chelsea renters. Not only is an organized bathroom easier to keep in shape; it also helps your morning routine. Clutter can pave the way for negative energy like anxiety and frustration. So, make sure your bathroom is tidied up so that you can feel relaxed all day! But, in order to get all the perks that come with an organized bathroom, you have to put the work in! Here are a few ways you can easily organize your bathroom.

Declutter

First things first — when it comes to an organized bathroom, the key is to throw out any clutter. A lot of people store so many things in their bathroom that end up not being used for the longest time. For this reason, it’s a wise decision to look through all of your cabinets, drawers, or shelves, to find out if there are any items that should be disposed of. Anything expired, of course, should immediately be tossed into the trash. Take all of the similar items, group them together and take stock. For items that are duplicated, throw them out if they’ve been left in your stash untouched during the past year. It is then that you can look at the items you want to keep and start organizing them.

Categorize to Organize

When you’ve already decluttered, you can start categorizing your other stuff. This lets you organize the items faster and better. Are you the only one using your bathroom? If so, categorize your items according to your routine. For example, you may want to set up a shelf, bin, or drawer for your morning routine and then another for the evening routine. If the bathroom is not just for you, though, then you can assign one caddy per person so that they can store their personal items there. The caddies can then be put on a shelf or a cabinet.

Invest in Clear Storage Containers

One of the biggest reasons that lead to a disorganized bathroom is when no one knows where each item is supposed to be. To steer clear of this, you can make it easy to find items by using clear storage containers. Then, simply place your categorized items into these containers. Shallow drawer organizers can be great for keeping toothbrushes, makeup, and other small items neat. For taller containers, they can be used to divide items according to types for shelves and cabinets.

A Place for Everything

As you re-organize your bathroom, an essential step is to designate a place for each of the items kept in the room. In so doing, you can prevent clutter from happening all over again. Generally, most people find that it helps to keep items off of the bathroom counter. Instead, you can utilize bins, drawers, and baskets. It’s best practice to label your storage containers. It makes sense, and it makes it easier for you to keep track of your items.

Use Your Space Effectively

Bathrooms are often cluttered because they are small. Most bathrooms are too small to have enough space to work with, making it very difficult for organizing belongings. No matter how small, there’s always some unused space in the bathroom that you can make good use of to keep things tidied up. Hooks behind doors, storage containers attached to the cabinet doors, and the space above the toilet are all potential storage areas. The key is to make good use of these things so that you can keep your bathroom clean and organized.
